Actually, Axilent doesn’t come in a box.  It’s a SaaS platform with a fully documented and versioned REST API, and a user interface for easy access to its features.  Axilent provides three core services:

  • Content Analysis:  Axilent examines each of your content items to determine their relevancy to each other.  Relevancy can be established both through matching structural metadata (articles with the same author, products within the same category) or through our KeyTagging technology.
  • Behavioral Targeting:  Axilent can observe user behavior, make sophisticated inferences, and draw conclusions about the user’s affinity and behavioral profile.  Axilent lets you get into the minds of your users.
  • Policy-Driven Content:  Axilent lets you specify exactly the mix of content you want to appear on your site, allowing you to choose from personalized, curated, related, and random content.  Tune and specify the mix to your exact specifications, all the while leveraging Axilent’s relevancy technology.

Humans are smart.  Axilent leverages that intelligence.  We use automation to extend the capabilities of human editorial decisions, allowing you to establish rules and policies that are then implemented on a mass scale.

For example, our KeyTagging system allows editors to tag exemplary content. That content becomes the basis to automatically tag the entire content base, using advanced classification algorithms to establish similarity to the “key tagged” content.

Similarly, our Content Channels system allows editors to establish the exact mix of content that they desire for a specified section of the website: any combination of curated, personalized, related or random content.  This “white box” approach harnesses the power of human intuition and judgement, without laying the full burden of manual curation on the editors.

Under the hood, Axilent brings heavyweight technology to bear on the problem space.  Our Acyclic Reducer Graph (ARG) relevancy modeling system allows us to measure many different ways in which content may be relevant, including metadata, tagging, relevancy, freshness and so forth.  Our KeyTagging system uses swappable classification algorithms such as Fisher and Bayes.

Content in Axilent is modeled as Content Types, which determine the saliency of metadata: how content fields determine how different content items are considered relevant to each other.  For example, two albums by the same musician might be considered highly relevant to each other, whereas two albums released by the same record company might only be slightly relevant.

Each Content Type has an associated, user-definable workflow, in which any number of content sourcing, automatic processing, editorial review and deployment steps may be included.  Automatic processing can include text sanitation (making the content web-safe) or automatic tagging.  Content edited during review steps is protected by version control, making any previous revision recoverable.


Easy to Integrate

Axilent comes with a fully documented, versioned API that makes integration into your applications easy.  Basic operations such as pulling content from a Content Channel are simple, and advanced integrations are possible and straightforward.

Because Axilent may need to live as a peer to an existing CMS, e-commerce suite or other system, we’re providing means to integrate at many different phases in the content workflow, including possible integrations during sourcing, review, automatic processing, and deployment of content.

Axilent content and behaviors (such as Content Channels) are deployed to data sandboxes called GraphStacks.  This makes it trivial to set up development sandboxes and have a safe and professional deployment structure, including a staging website as well as production.
